Outlook will not save any preferences. I cannot change the font for new emails, I cannot permanently change view preferences, I cannot turn on BCC for all new emails.
I finally figured it out myself. You can change the 'default' account and it will go to the top. Go to Tools, Account and then select the account you want to be the default. Click the gear at the bottom and select 'Set as default.' Then, the remaining accounts will be put in.
Any font changes (Preferences - Fonts) do not register. After changing the view preferences and navigating to another folder, they revert back to the default settings every time. Why do I have to click the options tab at the top of a new email to add the BCC option. Is there a way to turn this on permanently? Outlook no longer crashes every 12-15 minutes after uninstalling and reinstalling a few times, however, at one point since I've 'upgraded' I used the following to delete preferences from Outlook 2011 (Found on petersopinion). Open Terminal (click the Spotlight search glass in the top right corner and type terminal). Type: defaults delete com.microsoft.Outlook (to delete the old preferences).
Type: killall cfprefsd (to kill the cached prefs). Launch Outlook Did this Peter character ruin Outlook for me permanently? What can I do to make any preference changes stick? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
We are running Office Professional Plus 2010 on Windows 7 pc's. We recently migrated our mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 servers. We are also starting to test Office 2016 professional Plus. In Outlook 2010 - You could run a Repair on the EMail Account whether you went through Control Panel Mail applet Email Accounts Repair OR through Outlook File tab Account Settings Account Settings Repair. When I install Office 2016 and start Outlook 2016 - all is well except the 'repair' option is greyed out now in Email Accouns.
Hi Karen, In Outlook 2016, the Repair option in Account Settings is not available for Exchange account. If you setup other type accounts in Outlook 2016, the Repair option would be still available. Generally, in Outlook 2016 for Exchange connection, we can only use the Exchange Autodiscover service for Exchange account Setup (Exchange manually setup is not supported in Outlook 2016). A Repair for an Exchange account is just a autodiscover service checking. Based on my experience, if you are unable to connect to an existing Exchange account suddenly in Outlook 2016, it is usually an autodiscover issue. A repair is no need in this scenario. Regards, Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help, and unmark the answers if they provide no help.
